Amadeus – Behind the Label

Amadeus is a semi fine jewellery brand, handmade in the UK, with a focus on sustainability and ethical practice. Born in Paris, London based jewellery designer Nathalie Simond is the founder and creative director of Amadeus.

Nathalie grew up in a multi-cultural environment and after spending her childhood living in several different continents she settled in London where she studied Fashion Design at the prestigious Central Saint Martin’s School of Art. Her varied experience working in the fashion industry as well as her extensive travels across the globe always inspire her to create bespoke jewellery pieces that fill her and her clients with a sense of happiness. Amadeus is Nathalie’s new love, a hand-made, eclectic and ethical inspired collection.

As a brand, Amadeus takes great care to ensure that all pieces are produced with a focus on sustainability and ethical practice. Hand producing all pieces in their London studio gives them complete control over the entire process, from sourcing and production to setting and finishing.

Fighting climate change can seem out of reach for most but thanks to their partner Tree-Nation they are able to offer all clients worldwide CO2 neutral delivery. For each order you place, they will plant a tree in their company forests located in Madagascar and Tanzania to compensate  CO2 emissions.

In addition to this they use recycled fair-trade silver and gold in all of their jewellery and their

gemstones are either recycled from vintage pieces or hand sourced in legislated and fair-trade mines. The pearls that they use are hand-picked in an eco-friendly Asian sea farm and by working directly with the communities of those mines and farms they can ensure that the money goes back into the local community

Their philosophy is a passion for sustainability grounded in design and they seek to create jewellery pieces that combine style and conscience instead of contributing to the culture of fast fashion. They use vegan polishing products, bio degradable baggies and recycle every last scrap of metal whilst making new pieces. Even the packaging is recycled with jewellery pouches made in house using the lining of vintage suits. A true demonstration that beautiful jewellery can be made without harming the Earth.
