Each year, more than 100 million animals—including mice, rats, frogs, dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, monkeys, fish, and birds—are killed in U.S. laboratories for biology lessons, medical training, curiosity-driven experimentation, and chemical, drug, food, and cosmetics testing. You can find out so much more about the awful truth of Testing on Animals at PETA
We spoke to Sandra from Amassuna to find out what inspired their brand and the passion for the protection of animals:
We love nature, we love animals and seeing cruelty happening to them every day breaks our heart. There is a vital relationship between people and animals. A sustainable future for the planet can only be achieved if both animals and people are part of the solution. No animal should suffer and die in the name of beauty.
Amassuna ensures that there has been no testing on animals for any stage of development or production of their range. Sandra says that every product must be safe for people and safe for our planet. They believe that animal experiments should not be used on anything! We research everything and have agreements in place with their manufacturers to guarantee that the products are safe and 100% cruelty-free.
That is one very important clause on our contract with them!
Amassuna is the result of a passion for nature and a dream shared between
Sandra and her husband Georgio in pursuit of a more healthy and natural lifestyle. Their bespoke range of beauty products and home fragrances are made from all natural ingredients and pure essential oils extracted from sustainable Amazonian plants and botanicals from around the world.
Amassuna has teamed up with leading climate change charity Cool Earth who is working to protect rainforests. Amassuna donates 25p from each purchase to the charity.
We were looking for a sustainable and ethical marketplace to sell our products and that was happy to help small business like us to grow and to inspire conscious consumerism. It is great to be part of Beyond Bamboo marketplace, an incredible sustainable global community.
Introducing Ralph, the new spokes-bunny of the global campaign to ban animal testing for cosmetics. #SaveRalph is a powerful stop-motion animation short film produced by Humane Society International, featuring an all-star multinational cast including Taika Waititi, Ricky Gervais, Zac Efron, Olivia Munn, Pom Klementieff, Rodrigo Santoro, Tricia Helfer and more.
While Ralph is animated, the miseries he endures in the short film are far from made up. As Spencer Susser, the director of Save Ralph, says, “It’s so important that Ralph feels real because he represents countless real animals who suffer every day.”
